Erie PA Today News, Events and Info for today, Sunday, November 9, 2008

Some idiot set fire to the historic Gudgeonville Bridge in Girard on Friday. The Gudgeonville Bridge is (or was) one of only three remaining covered bridges in Erie County. The sign on the bridge says it was originally built in 1837 although I think the current structure was built in 1868. If you have any info on the arsonist, please call the Pennsylvania State Police in Girard at (814) 774-9611.

This week in Erie real estate news there were a couple of interesting items. Sidelines Sports Bar and Grill at 4646 Buffalo Rd in Harborcreek is available for lease - 9 years at $69,000. Pretty darn inexpensive for a 170 plus seat restaurant and bar. There is now a sale pending on the Sarah Hearn Presbyterian Church at 947 West 9th Street in Erie. It will be interesting to see who would buy a church. The 3 story building at 1329 State St, across the street from the Mercantile Building, now has a sale pending. Congrats to the Erie Redevelopment Authority. Someone bought the old Coach and Four Tavern on Parade Street for $30,000. It was for the real estate only.
